Restylane®

Restylane® is a dermal filler made of a naturally occurring, biodegradable substance called hyaluronic acid. It is designed to safely and gently improve moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth. It is also used in lip enhancement and face contouring for a natural and long-lasting effect.

How will Restylane® benefit me?

Restylane® is injected into the skin to "plump up " wrinkles. The chin can also be contoured or lips augmented for a fuller, more sensual and younger looking face. Treatment takes about 15 minutes and the results are instant. Restylane® can last roughly twice as long as collagen - up to six months in the lips and sometimes a year elsewhere in the face. Hyaluronic acid gradually breaks down in the body into water, which is safely reabsorbed.

Because of the wide variety of new and effective wrinkle treatments, Dr. Ignatowicz may recommend alternate or complementary therapies for your specific needs.

What are the risks of Restylane® injections?

This filler has been successfully used by over a million people around the world and has a low incidence of side effects. Redness, swelling or itching can occur, but usually subsides in several days. You will experience only mild discomfort during the injection and Dr. Ignatowicz can apply an aesthetic cream to numb the area. Unlike collagen, there is no risk of allergic reaction.

Restylane® is approved by the FDA for treatment of facial wrinkles.

As with any injection, there is always the risk of infection.
