Fat Transfer

Fat transfer, also called fat shifting, fat grafting and micro-lipoinjection is an effective way to restore smoothness and youthfulness to many areas of the face and body in a minimally invasive way. Fat is removed from one area of the body, such as the hips and abdomen, and inserted into another.

What can fat transfer do for me?

Transferred fat can be used to remove wrinkles, enhance the lips, fill out hollow eyes and cheeks, contour the chin and smooth out depressions. Compared to manufactured fillers, your own fat is safe from rejection and allergy and although some of the fat is reabsorbed, the results may be permanent. The procedure takes under two hours. This procedure is quite safe, relatively painless and highly effective. It can also be combined with tumescent liposuction to contour the area where the fat is being removed from.

What are the risks of fat transfer?

This procedure is safe and done under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. Minor swelling, bruising and redness may occur. Occasionally, areas may be uneven after the swelling goes down and require additional treatment.

As with any injection, there is always the chance of infection.
